Observation of the Helmet and Seatbelt Wearing by M2W and Car User – 2020 Survey Report

The key objective of the survey was to conduct observations of the seatbelt (cars) and helmet (M2Ws) usage in urban and rural areas in different parts of the country. The observation study was conducted in five cities – Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kolkata and Pune. Sub-Objectives of the study were as follows.

-To observe and check the usage of seatbelt by car drivers and passengers.
-To observe and check the usage of helmet by motorized 2W riders and pillion riders.
-To observe and check usage of mobile phone (calling/ texting) while driving cars & M2Ws.
-To check the effect of enforcement on seatbelt and helmet usage.
-Profiling of the car and two-wheeler users based on age and gender.

 Coimbatore Rural Accident Investigation report – 2019 Annual Research Report

The accident Investigation report of Coimbatore rural for the year 2019 was submitted to Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District and District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This report encompasses study of 217 accidents investigated by JPRI and 1942 Police reported accidents for the year 2019. The accident research report, submitted to the Transport Commissioner of Police Gujarat State, Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad City, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ahmedabad City analyses 204 accidents investigated in-depth by JP Research accident research team on the Ahmedabad City jurisdiction from January 2019 to December 2019. The report reflects the accident characteristics and identifies Human, Vehicle and Infrastructure factors that contribute to accidents and resulting injuries on City Roads, National Highway and BRTS Corridor of Ahmedabad.

Jaipur City Accident Investigation Report – 2019 Annual Research Report

This accident research report consists of detailed analysis of 159 in-depth investigated accidents by JPRI over a period of January to December 2019 for Jaipur city. The report was submitted to Additional Commissioner of Police(Traffic) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jaipur. This report deliberates the accident characteristics and identifies Human, Vehicle and Infrastructure factors that contribute to accidents and resulting injuries on the City Roads, National highways and State Highways of Jaipur.

 Mumbai Pune Expressway Road Accident Study Report – 2018 Annual Research Report

The accident research report, submitted to the VC & MD, MSRDC and the ADGP (Traffic), Maharashtra State Highway Police, analyses 110 accidents investigated in-depth by JP Research accident research team on the Mumbai-Pune expressway from January 2018 to December 2018. The report discusses the accident characteristics and identifies Human, Vehicle and Infrastructure factors that contribute to accidents and resulting injuries on the expressway.

 Kolkata City Road Accident Study Report – 2018 Annual Research Report

This accident research report analyses 868 police reported traffic accidents in Kolkata City and scientifically examines 125 crashes for which JPRI-RASSI teams have conducted on-site crash investigations, reconstructions and injury analysis to determine the contributing human, vehicle and infrastructure factors that influence the occurrence of these accidents and the resulting injuries. This study is for crashes occurring in the period between January 2018 to December 2018. The report was submitted to Mr. Pandey Santosh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Department, Kolkata.

Coimbatore Rural Accident Study Report – 2017Annual Research Report

A report analyzing the 169 cases which were investigated by JPRI for a period of January 2017 to December 2017 was submitted to Dr. P Moorthy, Superintendent of Police-Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. The contributing factors for the accident and injury in the 169 cases were analyzed. This report also contains the analysis of Police reported accidents of Coimbatore Rural area for the year 2017.

Mumbai Pune Expressway Road Accident Study Report – 2017Annual Research Report

A research report based on 125 accidents examined in-depth, on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in the year 2017, was submitted to Mr. Shankar Dhote, Chief Engineer, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation and Mr. Vijay Patil, Superintendent of Police – Head Quarters, Maharashtra State Highway Police. This report aims at listing all the contributing factors leading to accidents and the resulting injuries, and ranking them on a scale of priority to mitigate accidents and resulting injuries.

A research report based on 155 accidents examined in-depth, in Ahmedabad city for the period between January 2017 and December 2017, was submitted to the Mr. R. M. Jadav, IAS, Commissioner of Transport, Gujarat and Dr. Neerja Gotru, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Ahmedabad city. This report contains detailed analysis of the contributing factors leading to the accidents and injuries with appropriate solutions. This report also contains analysis of Police reported accidents of Ahmedabad city for the calendar years 2016 and 2017 along with some infrastructural solutions.
